Baker Mayfield’s NFL career hasn’t exactly gone the way he intended.
A former No. 1 pick struggling to find a team while still being in his physical prime isn’t so usual, but it seems like he may have finally found a place he can call home.
Talking to PFT, the former Cleveland Browns quarterback admitted that he would love to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the foreseeable future:
“I would love that,” Mayfield said. “God’s got a plan for me. If we win games that all should take care of itself, but I’m going to enjoy this one and then and then onto the next. We control our destiny, so it’s one-game-at-a-time mentality.”

He signed a one-year deal with Todd Bowles’ team, and he wasn’t even a lock to start.
Mayfield was an early-season MVP candidate after the Bucs got off to a strong start to the campaign, but his chances took a major hit once his team started regressing.
Even so, the Bucs have performed somewhat better than expected this season, and Mayfield has always had a huge chip on his shoulder.
The Bucs will square off against the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers in the final month of the season, looking to secure the top spot in the weakest division in the league.
Bucs, Saints, and Atlanta Falcons are tied with the same record with just four games left in the standings, and crazy as it may seem, the Bucs might be the only team with a real chance of winning a postseason game.
It’s crazy to think that just one year ago, Mayfield was stumbling around the league and played for three different teams, and he deserves plenty of credit for dealing with adversity.
