The Detroit Lions found great success this season, making it to the NFC Championship game.
While they fell short of their goal of reaching the Super Bowl, the Lions got further than many fans and analysts predicted them to.
The team’s culture has changed significantly under Dan Campbell’s regime, which has resulted in their winning ways.
Because of the team’s success, Ben Johnson was expected to leave the Lions in the offseason, taking a head coaching gig.
Teams across the league have shown interest in the Lions’ offensive coordinator, marveling at what he and Campbell have been able to do.
Despite being a popular candidate, Johnson decided to stay in Detroit for another season.
Johnson recently spoke with a Detroit-based news site, “MLive,” where he detailed his rationale for this decision.
He indicated that he and his wife decided to “go ahead and put the brakes on it for now,” which left the door open for him to potentially leave in the future.
“Hey, you know, we’re happy where we are. We love where we are. We love being in Detroit, love the people here,’ Johnson said.

For now, Johnson seems content to stay in Detroit.
He reportedly likes living there and would like to see what he and Campbell can do after seeing how far they made it this year.
The Lions were once the laughing stock of the entire league.
They were seen as a bottom-feeder that would never have success, a team that would forever be stuck in a rut.
If there’s one thing that Campbell and Johnson proved this season, is that they are no longer the same old Lions.
