Is Jake Browning going to compete with Joe Burrow for the Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback job in 2024?
Odds are not likely.
However, Browning has started to find a place in this offense, trying to lead them to success in the dog days of the regular season.
His most recent accolade was leading the Bengals to an unlikely victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Despite being counted out by most sports analysts, fans, and sportsbooks, Browning found a way to win.
Head coach Zac Taylor was asked about Browning’s performance in a postgame presser shared via Mike Petraglia, to which he responded, “Awesome. Outstanding.”

Browning might not have the accolades of Burrow, and he doesn’t present the same kind of ceiling in this offense.
But, as Taylor indicates, he is exactly who this team needs now.
In this game against the Jaguars, Browning only threw five incompletions en route to a 354-yard day.
He also didn’t throw an interception.
Winning the turnover battle is typically a signifier of success at the NFL level, and this was a significant reason for the Bengals’ win.
This was Browning’s second start and his first win as a starter.
With any luck, he and the Bengals can build on the success of beating one of the AFC’s top teams, hopefully fighting for a playoff spot at the end of the season.
All hope seemed lost for this Bengals team when Burrow fell to injury.
While this team has a long road to making it to the playoffs, the fanbase is filled with hope, and the locker room has responded well to having Browning as their leader.
