The New England Patriots have had their fair share of offensive struggles this season.
Most of their offensive issues have come at the quarterback position, up to the point where Mac Jones has officially been benched for the remainder of the season.
That led to some speculation about who was going to take over, but with Malik Cunningham signing with the Baltimore Ravens off their practice squad, that speculation was put to rest.
When asked about Cunningham’s decision to leave Foxboro to join the Ravens, HC Bill Belichick acknowledged that it was just a more favorable situation for him, as their offense was a better fit for his skills, and he’d get the chance to learn behind Lamar Jackson (via NBC Sports Boston).

Truth be told, the Patriots could’ve at least given Cunningham a shot.
They were never sold or high on Bailey Zappe, and they never even considered him as the potential quarterback for the future, so why not roll the dice and see what a guy with a different skill set can give you?
Mac Jones wasn’t good at all this season, but the team didn’t put him in a position to succeed either.
The Patriots have to go through a major roster overhaul if they want to get out of this hole.
It doesn’t matter who’s playing QB for them, they don’t have a good offensive line, a running game, and their receiving corps might be the worst in the league, so their issues go way beyond just one position.
