New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has worked with a lot of players during his expansive NFL career.
Before he became the Patriots’ head coach 24 years ago, Belichick spent time as a defensive coordinator with the New York Giants and New York Jets as well as the head coach for the Cleveland Browns.
That’s a lot of players to remember, but the legendary coach somehow whittled his list of all-time great players down to just five: quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Lawrence Taylor, safety Rodney Harrison and special teamer Matthew Slater (via The Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed).

Unsurprisingly, the list includes mostly Patriots players who had illustrious careers in New England.
Brady played 20 years with Belichick where he won six Super Bowls, made 15 Pro Bowls, and won three NFL MVP awards.
Gronkowski played nine years with Brady and Belichick in New England where he made four All-Pro teams and ranks among the best tight ends of all-time.
Harrison anchored the Patriots’ defense for six years, during which the Patriots won back-to-back Super Bowls from 2003-2004.
Slater, meanwhile, made 10 Pro Bowls for the Patriots as one of the best special teams players of all-time.
The lone non-Patriots player on the list is Taylor, who is considered by many to be the greatest linebacker in NFL history.
Lawrence is in the Hall of Fame after he played 13 years with the Giants from 1981-1993 where he won Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year in the same season, won two other DPOY awards as well as NFL MVP in 1986.
