The 2023 NFL season has been host to surprising results from several teams across the league.
Some teams have severely over-performed preseason expectations, while others have massively underwhelmed.
The New England Patriots are one of the teams that haven’t played as many would have expected.
Through 12 games, the Patriots sport a 2-10 record, a surprising outcome for a team that has experienced great success in previous years.
Many analysts have speculated potential reasons for the Patriots’ drop-off in play.
Rex Ryan has recently suggested that the “Patriot Way” is not working and that players are exhausted from this mentality.
As Ari Meirov highlighted in the aftermath of this statement, Bill Belichick said, “I’m not really sure what he’s talking about.”

“I’m not really sure what he’s talking about. Rex has never been with the Patriots.”

Belichick added, “Rex has never been with the Patriots.”
While Ryan has been a member of the NFL for a long time and has been involved in commentary for several years, Belichick cautions his judgment.
He believes that Ryan is speaking out of turn and is unfamiliar with the goings-on of the Patriots organization.
During the Tom Brady era, the Patriots were highly regarded.
Many believed they were one of the most well-run teams in the NFL and that Belichick was a fantastic coach.
Not only has Belichick’s leadership been questioned lately, but many fans and analysts seem concerned about the team’s current state.
Mac Jones has not been the answer at quarterback, which has caused their offense to falter.
Seeing how the team moves forward after the 2023 campaign will be interesting.
They might be forced to change their head coach, change Jones’ role, or both.
