The New England Patriots have a serious quarterback problem.
Mac Jones struggled mightily again, and with them on the verge of falling to 2-8, HC Bill Belichick turned to backup Bailey Zappe to try and get a much-needed win in Frankfurt.
So, now that the Patriots are entering their bye week after a disappointing 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the legendary head coach isn’t sure who’s going to start behind center when the team hits the field again (via Ian Rapoport).
#Patriots coach Bill Belichick, on a potential QB change after pulling Mac Jones late in Sunday’s game: “Yeah, we just got back from Germany. … We’ll look at everything across the board.”

Jones thew his league-worst 10th interception on Sunday and was benched in favor of the Western Kentucky product ahead of the team’s final offensive drive.
He had completed 15 of 20 passes for 170 yards, one head-scratching pick, and was sacked five times.
Unsurprisingly, Zappe didn’t do much with the chance he was given, completing just 3 of 7 passes for 25 yards and throwing a game-sealing interception into triple coverage.
It’s also worth noting that the Patriots released Zappe earlier in the offseason and made it clear that they don’t look at him as a long-term solution at the position.
Even so, the Pats might be tempted to give him the nod over the ever-struggling Jones for the remainder of the season.
His regression from his promising rookie season has yet to stop, and his decision-making just keeps getting worse.
Granted that his receivers’ inability to create separation and his offensive line woes have also contributed to his downfall, but Jones just seems erratic and nervous on every single drop back.
His game just seems broken right now, and while some of the flaws could be fixable, that just doesn’t seem likely to happen in Foxborough.
