The Buffalo Bills can’t leave anything to chance ahead of their most crucial game of the season.
Punter Sam Martin suffered a hamstring injury while trying to run down a blocked field goal in the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he might not be back to full strength in time for the showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Martin stayed on the field and continued to punt in the game after enduring the injury, so there’s optimism he can be available and that this won’t be a long-term issue.
The Bills made sure to take care of this issue right away, signing a familiar face to have an insurance policy in the event he’s not able to go.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team signed Matt Haack.
With Buffalo punter Sam Martin nursing a hamstring injury, the Bills are signing punter Matt Haack, per source. Haack was the Bills punter in 2021.

Haack was actually with the team in 2021.
He also had tenures with the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Cleveland Browns.
He’s only made one appearance this season, averaging 51.7 yards per punt on three punts during that contest.
If Martin can’t go, he’s likely to be called up and in charge of punting duties.
This will be the third time the Chiefs and Bills square off in the postseason during the Patrick Mahomes-Josh Allen era, and both previous games have been instant classics.
Nonetheless, this will be the first time the game will take place in New York, and the table is set for Sean McDermott’s team to finally get over the hump and beat their nemesis.
