The Buffalo Bills need all the help they can get at the wide receiver position after losing Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency and trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.
Despite drafting Florida State WR Keon Coleman in the second round of the NFL Draft this past weekend, more help is on the way from a surprising source.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Bills are signing wide receiver Quintez Cephus as a free agent, who was reinstated last week after being suspended for all of last season for violating the league’s gambling policy.

Cephus was with the Detroit Lions at the time of his suspension and was immediately released from the team when the indefinite suspension was announced.
He was a fifth-round pick by the Lions in 2020 and put up just 37 catches for 568 yards and four touchdowns across his three seasons, with just two catches for 15 yards in 2022.
He will now join a Bills squad in a battle to save his career, as he’ll likely be fighting for a roster spot, though he should have a decent shot to make the team given Buffalo’s WR depth.
The No. 5 and No. 6 receiver spots are unsettled in Buffalo, and Cephus will be competing with the likes of Justin Shorter, Mack Hollins, Andy Isabella, KJ Hamler, and Tyrell Shavers.
This could be Cephus’ last chance in the NFL after the lengthy suspension, and the pressure is on him to make the most of it.
It wasn’t a lock that he’d even get another shot, so hopefully he can stay on the field this time.
