The Buffalo Bills sent shockwaves through the NFL after they traded All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this offseason.
It was a move that needed to be made in order to save cap space.
Bills GM Brandon Beane recently appeared on “The Athletic Football Show” to chat about why Buffalo traded their former star away.
“You weigh a lot of things…From a cap standpoint, we decided just to go ahead and eat it now…We think we can compete,” Beane stated.
With Josh Allen, this Bills team should be in every single game.
He has the ability to lift the team up on his shoulders and carry them to victory.
He has proven it.
Now, it will certainly be an adjustment without Diggs around.
He made four-straight Pro Bowls while with the Bills.
From 2020-2023, he recorded 100+ receptions, 1,100 receiving yards, and 8+ touchdowns each year.
The former Viking was super productive.
Josh Allen will have to rely on the likes of Curtis Samuel, rookie Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool, and other new additions to uplift the passing attack.
Diggs will look to create the same sort of production in Houston with star quarterback C.J. Stroud.
It was an interesting decision by the Bills to trade Diggs to another Super Bowl contender.
After a division-winning season last year in Stroud’s rookie year, the Texans offense appears to be one of the best in the league.
Look for Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Joe Mixon to really become the next big-time cast of skill players in the league.
