After years of speculation and rumors that star wide receiver Stefon Diggs wasn’t happy with the Buffalo Bills and wanted to be traded, the team finally made a deal on Wednesday, agreeing to send the perennial Pro Bowler to the Houston Texans to catch passes from C.J. Stroud rather than Josh Allen.
The trade to send Diggs to Houston came out of nowhere as it seemed as though the Bills were content about moving forward with the veteran wideout still on the team, but clearly, that wasn’t the case, with the Texans’ trade offer being something the franchise couldn’t refuse.
With Diggs and the Bills seemingly always having a rough relationship, the team receiving trade calls about the veteran wideout probably happened quite frequently over the last few years, which general manager Brandon Beane admitted after the deal with the Texans was made on Wednesday, via Alania Getzenberg of ESPN.
Bills GM Brandon Beane said this wasn’t the first they have been called to ask if they would move Stefon Diggs. Beane said the value and the timing made sense with the Texans.

Ironically enough, Diggs had the best years of his NFL career with the Bills and likely wouldn’t be a household name in the league still if it weren’t for being Allen’s favorite target downfield over the past four years.
Diggs earned Pro Bowl honors in each of the four years he played in Buffalo and has been widely regarded to be one of the best players at his position in the NFL, but he had become increasingly difficult to deal with, and a divorce with the Bills seemed to be inevitable.
The 30-year-old wide receiver will now have a chance at a fresh start on one of the league’s most promising young teams, led by Stroud.
