The Buffalo Bills added some much-needed help to their running back corps.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, they’re about to sign former star RB Leonard Fournette.
BREAKING: Leonard Fournette tells me he’s in Buffalo and is planning to sign with the #Bills today, pending a physical.

The details of the contract haven’t been disclosed yet, but we know that he passed his physical and is signing with the team’s practice squad.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Fournette in March to clear some cap space after rushing for 688 yards and three scores on 189 carries, adding 73 receptions for 523 yards and three touchdowns.
He’ll now join the Bills looking to get carries over both James Cook and Latavius Murray, giving them more depth as Damien Harris is still on Injured Reserve (IR) with a neck injury.
Cook is currently eighth in the league with 486 rushing yards, so he could be competing with Murray for a goal-line and change-of-pace role.
Fournette was the Buccaneers’ RB last season, but he was inefficient.
The offensive line was brutal, and it wasn’t entirely his fault, but after averaging a league-worst 76.9 rushing yards per game and logging the fewest average yards per carry (3.4) and fewest rushing touchdowns (5) in the league, it only made sense for them to restructure their running back corps and save some money.
The Bills have a Sunday night showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals on deck, and judging by the way Joe Burrow and company are playing, it’s safe to say that their slow start to the season is a thing of the past now, and Buffalo could use as much help as they can get.
