The Los Angeles Chargers have been a disappointment for many years and have consistently disappointed and frustrated their own fans, but that may be about to change.
Jim Harbaugh, who has had two interviews with them in recent days, will be their next head coach, per Adam Schefter.

Harbaugh has a clear history of turning teams around and establishing a winning culture, starting at Stanford University in the late 2000s, when he took them from a 4-8 record in his first year there to a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl win three years later.
He moved on to the NFL after that, where he coached a San Francisco 49ers team that was in the wilderness but went 13-3 and reached the NFC Championship Game in his first year there.
The following year, Harbaugh guided the Niners to the Super Bowl.
He had coached at the University of Michigan since 2015, and earlier this month, the Wolverines won the College Football Playoff National Championship under his guidance.
In L.A., Harbaugh will have star quarterback Justin Herbert, Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen, and two studs on defense in pass rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.
The team has some roster holes and a difficult salary cap situation, but will have the No. 5 pick in April’s draft, which will give them the opportunity to add an impact player.
Harbaugh will bring some instant gravitas to a Chargers franchise that has gotten used to failure for a long time and has been derided by many as a substandard NFL team for many years.
