Award season isn’t quite over in MLB yet.
Milwaukee Brewers reliever Devin Williams was named the National League Reliever of the Year, winning the famous Trevor Hoffman award.
It was a totally deserving decision, but we will get there in a minute.
For now, we should all marvel at the Brewers’ ability to produce award-winning relievers in recent history.
“After a one-year hiatus, the Brewers have reclaimed their hold of the Trevor Hoffman National League Reliever of the Year Award, with Devin Williams announced as the winner on Wednesday night. A Brewer has won this award five of the last six years,” Brewers insider Adam McCalvy tweeted.

Josh Hader, currently a free agent looking for a big payday, won the recognition in 2018 and 2019 while he was with the Brewers.
Then, in 2020, it was Williams’ turn to take home the award for the first time in his career.
Hader retook his crown in 2021, a year before getting traded to San Diego.
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz had a historic season in 2022 and interrupted the Brewers’ streak.
Now, however, Williams is eager to start a new one and brought the award back to Milwaukee.
With 36 saves in 40 opportunities, a 1.53 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP in 58.2 frames with the Brewers in 2023, Williams was, without a doubt, the most dominant bullpen arm in the National League and probably MLB, too.
He allowed just 10 earned runs all year long: that’s fewer than two per month.
It’s easy to see why the Brewers won the NL Central: almost every close lead they had upon reaching the ninth inning was well protected.
