The Tennessee Titans found their next head coach this week after the team hired Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan to lead their team.
The move was a bit surprising given the caliber of candidates still out there on the open market, but Callahan sounded like someone who genuinely wanted to go to Tennessee to coach the Titans because of how he felt after he made connections with the organization during the interview process.
“It felt like a family,” Callahan said at his introductory press conference Thursday, via Paul Kuharsky.

Callahan will have an interesting task at hand in Tennessee as the predecessor to Mike Vrabel.
He’ll inherit a team with a lot of questions to answer this offseason, including decisions at starting quarterback and running back as well as fixing the defense.
Will Levis, the Titans’ 2023 second-round pick, should be the team’s Week 1 starter in 2024, but the status of veteran running back Derrick Henry remains a huge issue that needs to be figured out as the team heads into a critical second season under GM Ran Carthon.
The Titans rose to the top of the AFC South with Vrabel but gave way to the rest of the division over the past two years.
Callahan, meanwhile, helped play a large role in the development of the Bengals’ offense during his time on Zac Taylor’s staff with Joe Burrow under center, and now he’ll be entrusted to bring that experience, skill set, and mindset to Nashville.
His first step in all of this, though, is to fill out the rest of his coaching staff as the team prepares to make its roster moves ahead of next season.
