The Denver Broncos made a somewhat shocking decision early on Wednesday.
A season after giving him a significant contract, they decided to release veteran LB Randy Gregory.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, this decision was made because Sean Payton’s team wants to focus on younger players.

Gregory signed a five-year contract worth $70 million in March 2022, playing just six games last season because of injuries and a suspension.
Through the first four games of this season, he logged nine tackles and one sack, taking his total tally as a Bronco to three sacks and 21 total tackles.
Gregory had lost some ground over the past couple of weeks, and he didn’t start in the Broncos’ first win of the season last week.
The former Dallas Cowboys star had broken out in 2018 and had become one of the most prominent players at his position.
The Broncos lured him away from his former team in a rather-controversial turn of events, as he had already announced that he was going to come back to Dallas.
The team had reportedly been trying to trade him for the past week, but there were no takers, perhaps because of his steep salary.
Still, it shouldn’t take long before he finds himself a new home in the league.
As for the Broncos, expect younger players like Jonathan Cooper and Nik Bonitto to pick up most of the slack with him out of the picture, while Frank Clark will obviously have a prominent role as soon as he’s able to get back on the field.
