The Cleveland Browns came into the 2023 NFL regular season with high hopes of being a legitimate Super Bowl title contender, as the team perceived star quarterback Deshaun Watson to be the missing piece to the championship puzzle.
Unfortunately for Cleveland, Watson went down with a season-ending injury during the regular season, forcing the team to view the quarterback position and the outlook of the 2023 campaign much differently.
Although Watson was out along with star running back Nick Chubb, Cleveland was able to rely on its resiliency to pick up the slack and be a competitive football team in the second half of the regular season.
Ultimately, the team was able to clinch a spot in the NFL playoffs and seemed to have a good chance to make a deep run with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco under center and a talented defense led by star defensive end Myles Garrett.
However, the Browns hit a wall during the postseason, as they underestimated an inspired Houston Texans team led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who led the team to a win over Cleveland.
With the offseason underway for the Browns, all the talk has been about Watson’s health and when he might be able to get back on the field throwing the football, which general manager Andrew Berry had an answer for, via Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.
“He’s making really good progress, and we are really excited to see that continue,” Berry said.

Berry also confirmed that Watson will begin throwing next month, which is great news for the Browns, as he will likely be ready for training camp as long as there are no setbacks in his rehab.
It’ll be interesting to see what this team will be like with a healthy and motivated Watson under center next season.
