If it isn’t clear enough already, quarterback Baker Mayfield has found a home in Tampa Bay with the Bucs.
The Pro Bowl quarterback signed a three-year extension earlier this offseason after having a career year and leading the Bucs to the playoffs.
Bucs GM Jason Licht talked about his admiration for Mayfield’s competitiveness on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
He called Mayfield “a fiery, competitive leader in his own right because of the way he plays.”

After Tom Brady retired back in 2022, this team wasn’t highly thought of because pundits believed Brady was the straw that stirred the drink, which is accurate.
After all, they did win the Super Bowl.
But, what this team needed was a chip on it’s shoulder.
They got that when Baker Mayfield came to Tampa Bay last year.
Again, this is a player who has had an edge and a real sense of competitiveness his entire career.
He wasn’t highly thought of as a college football recruit, and he would go on to win the Heisman because of it.
Now, he is a franchise quarterback on a playoff team after bouncing around four teams in the last three years.
With Pro Bowl receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at his disposal and with a quality defense on the opposite side of the football, Mayfield has a chance to really make something special happen down in Florida this season.
It is also Licht’s belief and faith in Mayfield that makes him want to be better.
That is something a lot of GMs could incorporate into their own management style.
