Buck Showalter won’t return as the manager of the New York Mets in 2024, after spending the last two seasons with the team.
His place has been filled by Carlos Mendoza.
Showalter, in fact, won’t be managing this upcoming season.
A Mets insider, Anthony DiComo, has revealed that the experienced baseball manager will be returning to the booth.
“Former Mets manager Buck Showalter has rejoined MLB Network as an on-air analyst, the network announced. He’ll make his debut on MLB Tonight on April 1. Showalter was previously part of MLB Network’s team from 2020-21,” he tweeted.

He has had stints with the New York Yankees (1992–1995), the Arizona Diamondbacks (1998–2000), the Texas Rangers (2003–2006), the Baltimore Orioles (2010–2018), and the Mets (2022–2023).
In addition to his work in the dugout, he played baseball in the minors and had analyst gigs at ESPN and the YES Network.
Evidently, he has a lot to offer as an on-air analyst given his expertise and his knowledge of the game.
Despite his lack of a World Series triumph, Showalter is a four-time Manager of the Year award recipient and is among the most respected names in the industry.
The Mets, under the leadership of new head of baseball David Stearns, decided to go with a younger guy with fresh ideas in Mendoza, also overhauling other departments on the team.
Showalter, who took the team to the playoffs in 2022 but failed to get there last year, was no longer part of their plans.
