The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fresh off a huge road win.
Beating the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field was huge for their postseason aspirations, and Baker Mayfield made history by having a perfect passer rating at Lambeau.
Notably, he also had a lot of help from LBs K.J. Britt and Lavonte David, but veteran star Devin White was nowhere to be found.
White had been a full participant in Thursday’s practice before becoming a late scratch ahead of the game.
Then, reports surfaced of him missing the game for non-injury reasons, and the team didn’t deny those rumors.
HC Todd Bowles stated that White told the team he couldn’t play a couple of days before the game, and he didn’t offer any more insight on the situation.
That’s why White faced plenty of backlash and criticism, with people stating that he had quit his team.
With that in mind, the veteran LB took to social media to defend himself and clear the situation (via Rick Stroud and Dov Kleiman).
“I’ve just been seeing a lot of stuff saying like, that I quit on my team. “I don’t understand how I could do that when it was a personal — like for me and coach [Todd] Bowles — decision to sit down and rest to be able to help my team,” White said.

White has struggled with injuries for most of the season, dealing with foot injuries more often than not, but he also has a history of getting into his teammates’ faces, so it’s only natural to understand why some fans thought the worst.
At the end of the day, it seems like we’re just never going to know what went down for sure, and it’ll be interesting to see how the team continues to deal with these rumors and this situation going forward.
