The Houston Texans have a lot at stake in Saturday’s divisional rivalry game with the Indianapolis Colts.
They have a chance at their first postseason berth in the last four years, but they’ll have to beat the same team that beat them earlier in the season, at least for the most part.
Anthony Richardson ran for a couple of scores in that 31-20 road win, but he left with an injury, and it was up to Gardner Minshew to lead the offense the rest of the way.
Now, it’ll be up to C.J. Stroud to prove why he’s the frontrunner to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, as he’s just 208 passing yards away from passing both Jameis Winston and Cam Newton for the third-most passing yards by a rookie in NFL history, according to James Palmer.
With 208+ passing yards, #texans C.J. Stroud will pass Jameis Winston and Cam Newton for the 3rd-most passing yards by a rookie in NFL history.

Stroud would only trail Justin Herbert (4,336) and Andrew Luck (4,374) in that regard, although he would have only played 15 games, compared to Luck’s 16.
He would’ve broken that record if it wasn’t for his two-game absence with a concussion.
The Ohio State product has been the most impressive first-year player in the league by a significant margin, and he’s carried the load for an overachieving Texans team no one thought would have a shot at winning their division at this point in the year.
DeMeco Ryans’ team has a bright future ahead of them, and even if they lose tonight and don’t make the playoffs, the fans should feel quite encouraged about the roster they’ve put together and their rising stars.
