With the NFL season now underway, one of the biggest storylines heading toward the 2024 NFL Draft is what the Chicago Bears will do with quarterback Justin Fields, as the team owns the No. 1 overall pick for a second straight year.
Last year, the Bears decided to trade the top pick in the draft to the Carolina Panthers, even though several potential franchise quarterbacks were available, including C.J. Stroud, who ultimately went to the Houston Texans and led them into the NFL playoffs.
It seems as though the Bears made a mistake, with Fields not making much progress during the 2023 campaign and Stroud being a bona fide star right out of the gate for the Texans.
Ironically enough, Stroud was recently asked what the Bears should do with Fields moving forward and seems to have taken a subtle shot at Chicago for not keeping the pick last year and bringing him in, via Dov Kleiman.
“They should if they’re smart, but you know…” Stroud said about whether the team should stick with Fields.

The Bears have the ideal opportunity to take an incredibly talented prospect in quarterback Caleb Williams out of the University of Southern California, who many believe could be the next Stroud in terms of being a star right out of the gate and a potential superstar down the road.
All signs seem to lean toward the Bears finally trading Fields and taking Williams at No. 1 overall, but a lot can and will change over the next couple of months leading up to draft day unless Chicago makes a decision soon.
