Caleb Williams made headlines months ago for suggesting he’d stay at USC another year if a team he didn’t like landed the No. 1 pick in the draft, but thankfully for the Chicago Bears, he appears to be softening on that stance.
Williams had his Pro Day workout today and greeted a handful of attendees with a handshake and a hug.
According to Dan Wiederer of The Chicago Tribune, Bears GM Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus were part of that receiving line to get their handshakes and hugs in.

Williams could also be seen greeting new receiver Keenan Allen, who was also in attendance.

Anybody who thought the Bears were still looking to trade down or might swerve everybody and take Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels first overall might be changing their mind after today.
Poles also reportedly spent time speaking with Caleb’s father, Carl Williams.
Caleb reportedly had a very impressive workout and ended his day with this rocket deep pass down the middle of the field for a touchdown, followed by a solid punt.

Caleb won the 2022 Heisman Trophy after an incredible season at USC and followed that up with 3,633 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and just five interceptions while also running for 11 touchdowns this past year as a Trojan.
Many Bears fans had a hard time letting go of Justin Fields and wanted to see what he could do with a stronger foundation around him, but that won’t be happening as he recently was traded to the Steelers to clear the path for Williams to be the Bears’ franchise savior.
