With the 2024 NFL Draft less than two months away on April 25, the consensus around the league is that University of Southern California superstar quarterback Caleb Williams will be the first player taken once the Chicago Bears are on the clock at No. 1 overall.
Although all signs point to the Bears drafting Williams and trading star quarterback Justin Fields, teams will do their due diligence in the coming weeks in order to evaluate players and try to decide what direction they’ll go come draft day.
In the meantime, the Bears will focus on Williams and the other top quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft, with Chicago’s brass having a tough decision to make moving forward.
According to Jonathan Jones of NFL on CBS, the Bears will interview Williams on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Bears have a formal interview scheduled tonight with USC QB and presumed No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, sources say.
Most of Williams’s meetings with teams will take place this evening.

Even though it seems like a foregone conclusion that Chicago will take Williams at No. 1 overall on April 25, Chicago will likely interview all the quarterbacks that are expected to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Those quarterbacks include North Carolina’s Drake Maye, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy out of the University of Michigan.
All three of these quarterbacks mentioned are expected to be taken after Williams is off the board, but that could change over the course of the next few weeks, with teams doing deep dives on these prospects.
Although it’s a stretch at this point that another quarterback will be taken before Williams, the draft can be unpredictable at times, as it is not beyond the realm of possibility that things change from now until draft day.
