One of the big storylines for much of the NFL’s regular season this year was Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill’s pursuit of the record for the most receiving yards in a single season.
That record is held by former Detroit Lions star Calvin Johnson, who put up 1,964 yards back in the 2012 campaign.
Hill didn’t quite make it, as he finished with a mere 1,799 yards, partly due to an ankle injury he suffered late in the season.
That injury caused him to miss a game and be less than 100 percent after returning, but he still played in 16 games since the NFL extended its regular season schedule by one game a couple of years ago.
Johnson told Jim Rome that he doesn’t like the fact that players like Hill now have an extra game in order to break a record such as his single-season receiving yards mark.
“100 percent,” said Johnson. “That’s what the record should be. It should say 16 games or whatever it is.”

It wasn’t a long time ago that Johnson was one of the greatest and most physically gifted wideouts the NFL had ever seen.
Nicknamed “Megatron” for that reason, he surpassed 1,600 yards in a season twice and came very close to the 1,500-yard mark in 2013.
Hill is a living legend due to the speed that earned him the nickname “Cheetah,” and since being traded to the Dolphins prior to last season, he has raised his game to an even higher level.
While Miami had a frustrating season that culminated in a difficult wild-card playoff round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the immediate future looks pretty bright for them.
