The Chicago Bears could have a generational talent on their hands.
They’ve never had an elite quarterback in franchise history, and Caleb Williams is there to change that now and forever.
Nonetheless, despite his evident talent, the USC prospect has drawn criticism for some of his off-field actions.
Williams isn’t the prototypical NFL quarterback.
He paints his nails, wears lip gloss, and has a pink case for his phone.
And while there shouldn’t be absolutely anything wrong with that, this industry isn’t used to that kind of stuff.
That’s why Cam Newton, who also drew plenty of mockery for the way he dressed and handled himself, went out of his way to defend his colleague.
Talking on Good Morning Football, Newton pointed out that Gen Z is here to stay, and Williams is perhaps their first representative in the league.
“If you can play football and win football games… nothing else matters,” Newton said.

More than that, as long as those things don’t interfere with his game, why should that matter?
Newton stated that it’s more than obvious that he can play football and win football games, and that’s the only thing that should count.
That’s right on point.
Granted, some of the things he does could be seen as different to some, just because that’s the way it’s been for most of history.
That’s not the case anymore, and even if it were, that doesn’t have anything to do with his ability as a player, his work ethic, or his desire to be great.
Hopefully, he’ll continue to do what he wants and silence the doubters on the field.
