Football is arguably the toughest, most physical sport to play in the world.
A lot of people tend to agree on that.
What is really up for debate is which position in the National Football League is the toughest to play?
Former NFL MVP and Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton recently listed the three toughest positions to play in the league from his point of view.
“Offensive tackle, center and defensive back. Those are the top, hardest positions in football,” Newton said on his 4th & 1 show.

The first two positions that Newton listed are absolutely among the toughest play because they are in the trenches.
Whichever offensive tackle position you want to pick, that position is tough because most offensive linemen are out on an island against a solid edge-rusher.
They have no help.
The center has a difficult job because he has to both call signals and try to guess who is coming on the blitz.
Additionally, he has to understand the cadence from the quarterback.
Newton also listed defensive back as a difficult spot to play.
The reason is that all of the skill players that have to be covered know where they are going with their routes.
The defensive backs do not know.
Plus, if a great quarterback is looking to extend the play, the defensive backs are under even more pressure to cover for a longer period of time.
Each of these positions that Newton listed definitely make sense as the hardest positions to play in all of sports.
