Cam Newton’s NFL career took a downfall earlier than most people expected.
Multiple injuries prevented him from staying at an elite level for longer, up to the point where he’s not even in the league anymore.
His final stints with the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers weren’t exactly successful.
Then again, he’s just too talented and too physically gifted.
Plenty of teams could do a lot worse in terms of a backup quarterback, and some could even use him as an upgrade to their current starters.
Nonetheless, according to his own words, there’s only one team he would consider returning to the league for, and that’s the Atlanta Falcons.
Talking to Brandon Marshall on Good Morning Football, the former MVP admitted that he’s become a full-time YouTuber/dad, so he’d only consider going back for his hometown team so he doesn’t have to move his family or be away from them.
Will @CameronNewton ever get back in the pads?

Truth be told, Newton would be an upgrade over both Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke, even at this point in his career and after being away from the game for so long.
Then again, with the Falcons looking to get better, they might want to swing their attention somewhere else in their pursuit of a better quarterback.
Also, with all the rumors about Bill Belichick joining the Falcons, you know he’s not going to get himself into a less-than-favorable situation, so he’s going to look for a QB who could help him win now.
They do know each other pretty well, so perhaps he could bring him in as a backup, but it doesn’t seem like he’d be too interested in that role.
