At 1-8, the Arizona Cardinals are looking toward the 2024 NFL season to make their mark though this year they’ve been more competitive than initially expected.
First-time head coach Jonathan Gannon has the Cardinals playing solid football on both sides of the field, but there’s generally a talent gap on a weekly basis.
Arizona’s got some quality veteran players on the roster, but the mix between them and the young talent has made wins hard to come by.
However, it appears the Cardinals aren’t intent on tanking for a higher draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft as they activated Kyler Murray off the injured reserve to start this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Murray has been recovering from a torn ACL, but he’s slated to make his 2023 NFL season debut and show the fans that he’s worth investing in the long-term.
Aside from Murray, the offense is getting another key piece back in James Connor via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Connor has missed the past several weeks with a knee injury, but the running back suffered no setbacks and is set to lead the backfield again against Atlanta.
Despite getting up there in age, Connor has been a steady presence in the run game and was having a good year before hurting his knee.
With both Murray and Connor back, the offense should have an easier time moving the football which in turn will help set up the passing game for more success.
It remains to be seen how much work the two of them will get in their returns, but Arizona is set up for a strong finish this year.
