The New York Yankees will need all hands on deck this season.
Coming off a disappointing 2023 season where they only won 82 games, the Yankees knew changes needed to be made.
That is why they went out and acquired All-Star Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres.
He will help solidify their lineup, but they still have pitching concerns.
Those concerns were magnified after the recent news of Gerrit Cole’s elbow injury.
The reigning AL Cy Young winner is expected to miss the next 1-2 months.
All the Yankees can hope is that this elbow injury will not cost him the entire year.
But while he is out, they need their other starters to step up.
That means they need the best version of Carlos Rodon.
He had a terrible start to his Yankees career last season, and this spring training has not gone much better.
But it looks like he is finally rounding into form.
According to Chris Kirschner, Rodon pitched on Wednesday and his fastball sat at 95.2 mph.
He even topped out at 96.3.
Carlos Rodón’s fastball sat 95.2 mph and touched 96.3 mph in a 1-2-3 first inning.

That goes to show his arm is feeling good and he could be in line for a bounce-back year.
The Yankees have a lot invested in Rodon.
He was signed to a six-year contract last offseason.
Now would be a great time for Rodon to show New York they made a good deal.
The Yankees’ season may be derailed with Cole expected to miss a lot of time.
But, how their other starters step up this season could make all the difference.
