The Miami Dolphins got a potentially great player at a major discount.
Trading a future late-round pick for WR Chase Claypool could end up being a massive bargain for Mike McDaniel’s team.
And if not, it’s not like they had to give up a lot for him, making him a low-risk/high-reward kind of pickup.
Claypool talked his way out of Chicago, bashing the coaches and being deactivated for the past two games as a result.
That’s why it didn’t take long before Underdog NFL resurfaced a clip of him in the offseason, talking on the I Am Athlete podcast and stating that he knows he’s a top-3 receiver in the league, a dog, and predicting that he would get 1,300+ receiving yards and 10+ receiving touchdowns this season (via JPA Football).

Claypool also said that people would look back to that clip in a short time and prove he was right.
Well, thus far, Claypool has amassed a grand total of four receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown, so he needs to have a historically dominant stretch to end the season to live up to those predictions.
He’s by no means a top-3 wideout in the game, but he’s still young and has the physical tools to be a dominant force and perennial mismatch.
His game is tailor-made for the Dolphins’ fast-paced offense, and he could make an immediate impact.
But this might be his final chance to prove his worth in the league after all that talking and that little production.
