The Kansas City Chiefs managed to win back-to-back Super Bowls and their third title in five years without having any notable big-name weapons in the backfield or at wide receiver.
Armed with a decent amount of cap space late in free agency, the Chiefs are looking at some under-the-radar options to improve a position of weakness in 2024, with one high-upside guy reportedly coming to town today.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are hosting free-agent RB J.K. Dobbins for a visit, and Schefter adds that the former Raven “is expected to have a home very soon.”

Dobbins is still only 25 years old and is coming off the latest of a series of major injuries he suffered in his Ravens tenure, as he appears to be doing well following the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 of this past season.
No one has ever doubted Dobbins’ talent, as he still has a career average of 5.8 yards per carry, has never fumbled, and in his only full season in the league he had 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on only 134 carries in 2020.
The Chiefs got a strong 2023 season from Isaiah Pacheco, who posted 935 rushing yards on 4.6 YPC with seven touchdowns on the ground.
The problem is that the running back production outside of Pacheco was severely lacking, as former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire continues to disappoint, and Jerick McKinnon is used more as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
Dobbins would be a major high-upside signing for the Chiefs and take some pressure off him needing to be a bell-cow back.
