He might be a kid from Fresno, California, but Xavier Worthy was rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs all along.
Andy Reid’s team traded up to make sure to get their hands on the fastest player in NFL Scouting Combine history, and that was a dream come true for him.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Worthy was so eager to play for the Chiefs and with Patrick Mahomes that at some point in time, he even asked his agent to tell all other 31 teams that he didn’t want to play for them (via Robert Raymond 46).
At one point in time, Xavier Worthy jokingly told his agent to tell all 31 teams that the one place that he does want to go is Kansas City to play with Patrick Mahomes.

That’s not usually how things work unless you’re a top-three pick, but it ended up working out perfectly for this year’s No. 28 selection.
Notably, that was supposed to be the Buffalo Bills’ pick, and the fact that they actually agreed to give their nemesis a helping hand to get the weapon they needed was a bit of a head-scratcher.
Worthy was the fifth wide receiver taken in an incredibly talented class, and he looks like a tailor-made fit for Andy Reid’s high-octane offense.
The Chiefs lacked a speedster like him since Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins, and even if they had already added Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown to the mix for those purposes, you can never have too much speed at wide receiver, especially if you’re the Chiefs.
There’s a lot of uncertainty regarding Rashee Rice’s situation, but Mahomes can now rest assured that he has another prime weapon in his pursuit of the league’s first-ever Super Bowl three-peat.
