Last season, wide receiver Kadarius Toney played a significant role in the Kansas City Chiefs getting a Super Bowl win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
With about 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Toney took a punt and returned it 65 yards to the Eagles’ five-yard line, and the Chiefs found the end zone three plays later.
This season, Kansas City is back in the Super Bowl, as they will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers inside Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Toney, he isn’t expected to be a participant in Sunday’s showdown against the 49ers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter.

Despite not appearing on the Chiefs’ final injury report for the Super Bowl, it sounds like the young wide receiver will have to watch his team take on San Francisco from the sidelines on Sunday.
Toney has had a bit of a roller coaster 2023 season for Kansas City.
He began the campaign by dropping multiple passes in Week 1, which resulted in a surprising loss to the Detroit Lions for the Chiefs.
Then he was at the center of a controversy in Kansas City’s Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills when he was flagged for offensive offsides late in the matchup.
Toney’s last appearance in a game for the Chiefs came back in Week 15 when Kansas City was able to get a 27-17 win over the New England Patriots.
The young wide receiver only has a year left on his contract, and the Chiefs can cut him this offseason without sustaining a salary cap penalty.
Have we already seen the last of Toney in a Kansas City uniform?
