The Kansas City Chiefs are in a four-way tie for the best record in the AFC at 6-2, and they need to separate themselves from the pack as the NFL season nears the beginning of its second half.
They suffered a surprising 24-9 loss to the Denver Broncos this past weekend as quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a rare poor outing — he went 24 of 38, threw no touchdown passes, and was intercepted twice by a Denver defense that has been struggling mightily this year.
The Chiefs will look to regain their mojo on Sunday against the 6-2 Miami Dolphins in Germany, and as they prepare for this statement game, Mahomes has popped up on their injury report with a left hand ailment, per Matt Derrick.

Mahomes, the reigning regular-season MVP and Super Bowl MVP, has been up and down this season, and his 95.8 passer rating, 4.9 percent touchdown rate, and 2.6 percent interception rate are his worst marks ever since he became a full-time starter in 2018.
While Kansas City’s defense has largely been on point, something is lacking for them on offense, especially at the wide receiver position.
Unlike in the past years of the Mahomes era, they do not have a consistently productive wideout, and they didn’t go out and acquire an upgrade at that position prior to Tuesday’s trade deadline.
While they may be able to get away with that during the regular season, come playoff time, it could spell their downfall, especially given the immense depth throughout the AFC.
A team such as the Dolphins, especially if fully healthy, could very well upset Mahomes and company in the postseason unless they find someone who will step up at the wideout position.
