After winning a Super Bowl title in his rookie season in the NFL and spending the first few years in the league with the Kanas City Chiefs, wide receiver Mecole Hardman tried his luck in NFL free agency and ended up signing with the New York Jets last year on a one-year deal.
Although Hardman was thought to be a significant part of the offense in New York, especially after the team acquired superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers, he ended up catching one pass for six yards during his time with the Jets, becoming one of the team’s biggest mistakes in free agency.
Fortunately for Hardman, he got a second chance to prove himself after only five games with the Jets, with the Chiefs trading for him in hopes he could get back to form where it all began for him on the professional level in Kansas City.
Even though Hardman didn’t make much of an impact for the rest of the regular season, he came up big in the Super Bowl, catching the game-winning touchdown in overtime to beat the San Francisco 49ers and win his third title with the team.
It seems as though coming up big in the biggest moment was enough to convince the Chiefs to bring him back, with the team announcing on Friday that they have officially re-signed the 26-year-old wideout, via the team’s Twitter account.

One of the Chiefs’ biggest needs during this NFL offseason was at wide receiver, which the back-to-back champions addressed in free agency and throughout the 2024 NFL Draft.
Along with bringing back Hardman, the Chiefs signed veteran wide receiver Marquise Brown in free agency and drafted rookie wideout Xavier Worthy.
