The Baltimore Ravens have the best record in the National Football League.
And with the MVP often going to quarterbacks, that would make Lamar Jackson an obvious candidate to win the award.
His numbers might not be the most impressive among all potential candidates, but he was the best player on the best team, and that also has to count for something.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Chris Broussard responded to Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons, who stated that Dak Prescott had to win MVP, making a case for Jackson instead.
“Lamar played without his top 2 RBs, his Pro Bowl TE, and has a good not great receiving corps. And Lamar was better than Dak against the best teams.”

Talking on First Things First, Broussard explained that Jackson should be the frontrunner not only because of his team’s record but also because of the fact that he lost his top two running backs and his Pro Bowl tight end and had an unimpressive receiving corps — outside of Zay Flowers:
“Lamar played without his top 2 RBs, his Pro Bowl TE, and has a good-not-great receiving corps. And Lamar was better than Dak against the best teams,” Broussard said.
On top of that, he compared him to Dak Prescott in terms of how he fared against winning teams, and not only were his individual numbers similar and slightly better, but he actually managed to beat them more often than not, as opposed to Dak.
The MVP was Dak Prescott’s to lose.
He was the frontrunner and dropped the ball in back-to-back weeks vs. the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins and it probably cost him the award; it’s as simple as that.
The Ravens are the best team in the league until proven otherwise, and a lot of that has to do with their dual-threat quarterback and likely soon-to-be two-time NFL MVP.
