Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs is one of the NFL’s better pass rushers, and he has played a very key role in the team’s three Super Bowl championships over the past five seasons.
He is due for a hefty contract extension that will keep him in town for at least a few more years, and at age 29, he seems to have plenty of game left.
But at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2016, he had an embarrassing mishap while running the 40-yard dash that he recently revisited, per “New Heights” via Dov Kleiman.
In essence, Jones showed up wearing a hilarious pair of pants.

Jones ran the 40-yard dash in an unimpressive 5.03 seconds, and he fell to the second round of the draft, where Kansas City scooped him up.
It took him a couple of years to emerge, but in 2019, he posted 15.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hits, and 19 tackles for loss, which earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
Not coincidentally, that was the season the Chiefs won their first world title of the Patrick Mahomes era.
In 2023, Jones had 10.5 sacks, 29 QB hits, and 13 tackles for loss despite holding out of training camp while looking for a contract extension.
He eventually agreed to a one-year deal in time for Week 2, and the team is believed to be working toward agreeing with him on a long-term deal.
The Chiefs won with defense in 2023 much more than they had in previous years, and thus keeping Jones, as well as cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, is imperative to their chances of collecting more rings over the next few years.
