The NFL has become a quarterback’s league, now more than ever.
You need to have a good QB situation if you want to compete, regardless of how stacked your team might be at other positions.
That’s why, even in their worst year of the Patrick Mahomes era, the Kansas City Chiefs are just one win away from reaching another Super Bowl.
That’s not much of a surprise for renowned sports analyst Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.
Talking on his Mad Dog Unleashed program for SiriusXM Radio, Russo went as far as to call Mahomes the greatest quarterback he’s ever seen.
He stated that he’s watched football for more than five decades.
He talked about watching Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath and everybody that came later, and he has yet to see anything like Mahomes:
“He’s the best quarterback I’ve ever seen,” Russo said on his show. “I don’t know what else to tell you; he’s the best I’ve ever seen. There’s nobody better than this kid.”
Over 50 years of watching these QB’s @PatrickMahomes is the best I’ve ever seen!

Russo praised Mahomes’ ability to rise to the occasion, talking about how he’s played in so many crucial games, yet he’s only seen him play poorly in the second half of the AFC Championship Game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals a couple of years ago.
Granted, Tom Brady has seven Super Bowl rings and owns most records, so Russo won’t argue with those who want to call him the greatest quarterback of all time, but he did say that Brady had a ‘game-manager component’ to his game, and Mahomes is no game-manager at all.
Brady has the résumé, but from a pure talent perspective, Mahomes might be the greatest quarterback to ever lace them up.
