Not even Christian McCaffrey’s great season could uplift the San Francisco 49ers past the Kansas City Chiefs.
The reigning Offensive Player of the Year led his team in receiving yards and scored a touchdown in his Super Bowl debut, but he also lost a crucial fumble.
That’s why Carolina Panthers legend Luke Kuechly admitted that he actually felt sorry for him right now.
Talking to Kay Adams for the Up & Adams Show, the former Defensive Player of the Year stated that he was thinking of him, knowing that he must feel terrible after losing the Super Bowl.
“I thinking about about him, I feel for him…,” Kuechly said.

McCaffrey had one of the best offensive seasons for a running back in NFL history, and he was an MVP candidate for most of the season.
He was the Niners’ focal offensive point, and they would’ve never found that much success without him.
He wasn’t the only player who had a crucial turnover during the big game, and the Niners still had a chance to win despite all that, so none of his teammates should blame him right now.
Even so, we’re talking about a fierce competitor, and he must be hurting after being so close to the big prize.
McCaffrey is one of the best players in the game, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him getting back to this stage at some point in his career, maybe even next season.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to redeem himself and help his team win the whole thing next time.
