The Pittsburgh Steelers could be interested in making a run at Justin Fields.
According to some sportsbooks, they’re the odds-on favorite to get him next season, even ahead of his current team, the Chicago Bears.
However, sports analyst Colin Cowherd doesn’t think that’s going to be positive for his development.
Talking on his show, the renowned pundit explained that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears are the most defensive-driven franchises in the league.
“I don’t think this is great for his career. He needs an offensive head coach,” Cowherd said.

He thinks that playing for a defensive coach like Mike Tomlin won’t help him or be much better than his current situation under Matt Eberflus.
This makes sense, and the Steelers haven’t had an elite quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger’s downfall, so it’s not like they’ve been used to building their roster and game plan around their offense.
Even so, the Steelers do have some solid pieces in place that could benefit from Fields and vice versa.
They have a much better offensive line than the Bears, not to mention more skill players and talent at both the running back and wide receiver positions.
Arthur Smith did wonders with Ryan Tannehill during his days with the Tennesee Titans, taking his career up from the ground after years of mediocre play, so he could be even better with a much more talented quarterback with a dual-threat skill set, such as the Ohio State product.
