The New England Patriots are on free fall in the 2023 NFL season.
After scoring only three points against the Dallas Cowboys, they were shut out by the New Orleans Saints at home.
These are not the same Patriots who struck fear in opponents for many years in the league.
Instead, they have been an afterthought ever since Tom Brady left the building.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has had an 81-94 record without his long-time quarterback.
Worst yet, they are 1-4 to start the season.
If this trend continues, could Bill Belichick be fired?
Colin Cowherd believes it will happen if the Patriots cannot turn things around.
“Tom Landry got fired. Andy Reid got fired. Belichick is not untouchable,” Cowherd said in a recent episode of The Herd.

Cowherd gave that statement after The Athletic’s Jeff Howe wrote that there’s a prevailing thought that Belichick earned the right to step away whenever he wants.
However, Cowherd pointed out that Jimmy Johnson replaced Landry in Dallas after coaching for seemingly forever.
Andy Reid also got the boot from the Philadelphia Eagles after multiple playoff runs.
Therefore, Belichick can also get fired after 24 seasons with New England.
After all, he’s not the boss, it’s Robert Kraft.
Also in Howe’s article, Kraft has reportedly grown weary of the team’s lack of success in recent years.
After two decades of dominance, they have just one playoff appearance in three seasons.
They could be heading for their third losing season post-Brady without a turnaround.
If the boss doesn’t see results, changes may happen.
