The Seattle Seahawks have gone through some drastic changes over the last few years, with the team trading superstar quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, Geno Smith making the Pro Bowl, and Pete Carroll stepping down as the head coach.
Heading into the 2024 NFL regular season, the franchise has a lot of questions about what the future holds, as it seems as though Smith isn’t the long-term option at quarterback, and the jury is still out on whether the recently acquired Sam Howell is the real deal.
With some major questions about the future of the quarterback position in Seattle, the speculation has started to ramp up about the Seahawks potentially selecting a quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
There are quite a few talented young quarterbacks in the draft this year, which means Seattle will have an opportunity to draft one if they choose to go that route.
Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports believes the team should take a flyer on Michael Penix Jr. out of the University of Washington, via “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
“Seattle has players,” Cowherd said. “You don’t have to carry that franchise.”

Obviously, Penix’s injury history has turned off many NFL teams when it comes to bringing him in with a high draft pick or even bringing him in at all, and understandably so.
However, the Seahawks do have Smith and Howell, who will presumably be ahead of him on the depth chart, meaning it might be a good idea to bring him in to see if he can develop and become a starter in the near future.
