The Indianapolis Colts needed someone to step up in the running game, and they found a veteran more than willing to embrace that challenge.
Zack Moss was instrumental for Shane Steichen’s team as they dealt with Jonathan Taylor’s situation.
Taylor was out with injuries multiple times, and there was also big uncertainty about his future with the organization, so Moss just put his head down and got to work.
Now, he’s heading towards unrestricted free agency, and he would love to be back in Indianapolis (Via Around the NFL):
“If I do come back here, it would be great,” Moss told the Indy Star.

Unsurprisingly, his production plummeted as soon as Taylor got back on the field.
He failed to reach the 70-yard mark for the remainder of the campaign, but he proved to be more than capable of carrying the load if need be, and that’s huge for a team relying on an injury-prone star at one of the most physically demanding positions in the game.
The market for running back has been rather cruel over the past couple of years.
Even guys like Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, and Austin Ekeler might find it tough to get their actual market value in their next deal, so guys like Moss could be in for even more trouble.
The Colts, however, will be one of the teams with the most free cap space, although they still need to make sure to get Michael Pittman, Gardner Minshew, and other veterans re-signed before even thinking of Moss.
