The Indianapolis Colts didn’t go crazy in free agency, which put a little more pressure on the front office to have a strong 2024 draft, especially given the fact that the team made nine selections.
A recent report indicates that the team has signed one of their big draft picks, closing the book on the draft as a whole and completing an important feat.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Colts have officially signed second-round draft pick WR Adonai Mitchell out of Texas, meaning all nine of their 2024 picks are now under contract.

Mitchell fell to the 52nd overall pick due to the depth of talent available at the wide receiver position in this class and he will immediately step in to add explosiveness to this offense and serve as a viable downfield threat for second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson.
He had 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns at Texas last season and ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
The Colts also took the first defensive player off the board in UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu with the 15th overall pick, and he already got a tattoo of the Colts logo, so there was no chance he wasn’t signing.
With all the ink now dried, the Colts can focus on the on-field product and how all these new pieces fit together, and it’ll be interesting to see how early and how often Mitchell is relied upon alongside veteran Michael Pittman Jr., who re-signed with the team this offseason, as well as second-year wideout Josh Downs, who flashed as a rookie with 68 catches for 771 yards.
