With the Washington Commanders having another forgettable season and being under new ownership, the storied franchise was expected to clean house during the NFL offseason, and the team has done just that leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.
Recently, the Commanders named Dan Quinn, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, as the team’s new head coach, replacing Ron Rivera.
Once Quinn was in place and the head coaching position was taken care of, the next order of business was addressing the offensive coordinator position, which was occupied by Eric Bieniemy, who made such an impact with the Kansas City Chiefs under Andy Reid.
With the news surfacing over the weekend that Kliff Kingsbury would not be taking the job with the Las Vegas Raiders and had pivoted to the Commanders instead, this left Bieniemy and his immediate future with the team in limbo.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bieniemy will not be returning to the Commanders’ coaching staff.

Bieniemy was once considered a hot commodity in the NFL, with many attributing the Chiefs’ success on offense with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes to his play calling, which obviously drew the attention of other teams around the league.
However, after a forgettable stint with the Commanders, it seems as though Bieniemy is not as popular an option for teams moving forward, whether it be for a head coaching vacancy or another job as an offensive coordinator.
This is unfortunate timing for Bieniemy, with many of the best coaching jobs available having already been taken over the last few weeks or so, leaving him without many options moving forward.
