With the 2023 NFL regular season coming down to the final stretch, with teams only having a handful of games left before the start of the NFL playoffs, teams are doing everything within their power to improve their rosters.
Recently, one of the better defensive players in the league became available, with the Indianapolis Colts parting ways with linebacker Shaquille Leonard, which has led to two of the elite teams in the NFC making their case for him to sign with them.
Apparently, Leonard will meet with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles before making his choice on which team he wants to sign with and finish out the season with.
Reportedly, the veteran free agent met with the Cowboys today before moving on to Philadelphia to take a meeting with the Eagles tomorrow.
With the Cowboys in the running to sign Leonard, former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore talked about the former Colts great and what he could bring to Dallas, via David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
“He’s a great player. He impacts the game in a lot of ways.
“One thing about him is he’s very passionate. He’s going to get the ball out. He’s always going for the ball.
“He’s what a linebacker is supposed to be like.”

With the addition of Leonard, the Cowboys defense will be that much more of a scary opponent for opposing teams, which could give them a much-needed edge over the Eagles at a time when it is needed the most.
As for the Eagles, Leonard would provide a considerable boost to the defense in Philadelphia, making things much more interesting when these two division rivals go head-to-head the rest of the way.
It’ll be interesting to see which team comes out on top in the Leonard sweepstakes and if it’ll be a game-changer for the team that signs him.
