The 2023 NFL season is nearing its close as teams use the final two weeks to jockey for playoff positioning.
Week 17 features several marquee matchups, though the most exciting game on the slate is the Detroit Lions against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Lions clinched the NFC North for the first time in decades with a win over the Minnesota Vikings, while the Cowboys return home after a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Dallas has more to prove in this matchup as they look to beat a team with a winning record, though Detroit won’t just go down easily after winning their division.
Both teams have legitimate cases to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and this is a potential postseason matchup.
Entering the game, both the Lions and Cowboys are also putting some impressive streaks on the line via Ed Werder of ESPN.
“The Lions have won 5 straight prime-time games (4-0 this season), the longest active prime-time winning streak in the NFL. The Cowboys have won 15 straight home games, the longest active streak in the NFL,” Werder tweeted.

Detroit has shown up when the nation is watching, but Dallas owns one of the best home-field advantages thanks to their raucous fan base.
The Cowboys have looked like juggernauts when they’re back in their home arena, though the Lions’ style of play travels well since they’re so aggressive and physical in the trenches.
Whoever wins this game will likely be considered the second-best team in the NFC, so it should be an exciting game for fans.
