The Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was a bit of a reality check for the Dallas Cowboys and star quarterback Dak Prescott, who had one of his worst performances in recent memory against Nick Bosa and company.
Fortunately for Dallas, the team was able to lick their wounds during their bye week and get prepared to take on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium last week.
Even though the Chargers have failed to live up to expectations this season, this matchup was fairly even, with the Cowboys having the edge defensively and Los Angeles being the better team on offense.
However, Prescott had a chance to bounce back with a vengeance against the Chargers and was able to do just that, as he played well in what turned out to be a three-point win for Dallas.
Prescott recently talked about his performance against the Chargers and how he was able to extend plays with his legs, via ESPN’s Ed Werder.
#Cowboys QB Dak Prescott on using his mobility and physicality to extend plays and contribute to run game in win vs Chargers.:
“It’s a part of who I am naturally, being physical, getting out of the pocket. And so just having that part, bringing that back, was huge. It was fun.” pic.twitter.com/NQxRxK9S0Z— Ed Werder (@WerderEdESPN) October 26, 2023
Ever since Prescott suffered the gruesome ankle injury a few years ago, he hasn’t been the same quarterback in terms of mobility, even though he wasn’t anywhere near Lamar Jackson or the league’s most mobile quarterbacks before going down.
However, he did get it going with the ground game against Los Angeles, rushing for 40 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, which might be a sign that he’s more willing to run moving forward.
In Week 8, the Cowboys will be playing host to the Los Angeles Rams in a game where Prescott will need to have a solid performance for Dallas to come out on top.
