The Detroit Lions could have a prime reinforcement back on the field for Week 4’s matchup vs. the Carolina Panthers.
Jameson Williams was reinstated sooner than expected, as a change to the league’s gambling policy cut his suspension from six to just four games.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t sound like HC Dan Campbell is too eager to get him involved right away.
As he said on 97.1 The Ticket, ‘It wouldn’t be fair’ to overload him by giving him a ton of snaps in his first game back into action (via Pride of Detroit).

“Yes, we’d love to get him up this week, but we don’t want to overload him either. That wouldn’t be fair to him.”

It seems like the Lions don’t plan to get him heavily involved in the game plan, and their passing game will likely continue to run through WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, and rookie TE Sam LaPorta.
This is a major disappointment, considering Williams is one of the most promising and talented wideouts in the game, and he already missed plenty of time last season with an injury, so we haven’t got to see him as often as we would like.
On the flip side, he did miss most of the training camp with a hamstring injury, and he was just ramping his way back to the field before his suspension got cut short.
The Lions are taking a big-picture approach with their prized young man, and it’s hard to blame them.
It’s not like they have struggled to move the chains or put up points on the scoreboard without him, and it’s better to be safe than sorry with such a talented player like him.
